WARNING HALLOWEEN HeaderWell even thought Warning Radio has been more or less DEAD for just about a year I couldn’t resist getting in on the act again this year and creating another Halloween mix. Mostly because last year I had so many songs that I did not include on the first Halloween Special but in reality I really just wanted an excuse to use a the sound clip “I Got A Rock” from the Peanuts The Great Pumpkin. Enjoy the mix and weather you are taking in a party, heading out to a bar or trekking the neighborhood with the kids be safe and have fun.

LOLLAPALOOZA!

Posted in JANES ADDICTION, LOLLAPALOOZA, NINE INCH NAILS on April 29, 2011 by matthewrubbish

This is pretty cool. Hop on over the the Lollapalooza website and check out the time capsule in celebration of the music festival’s 20th anniversary. Perry Farrell’s vision of an alternative traveling carnival was instrumental in what was to become mainstream over the next few years. Lolloapalooza changed the game and for the first time opened peoples eyes to the power of alternative music and was way ahead of it’s time showcasing diverse acts, side shows and vendors.

The traveling version of the fest hit some lean years in the late 90’s but resurfaced strong in 2003 as a one city mega concert in Chicago. This summer the 3 day event features the return of classic alternative stalwarts Big Audio Dynamite and a slew of current acts. Click HERE to check out the time capsule! Definitely worth it.

And feel free to post some of your Lollapalooza memories from any year. I’d share a few of mine but I they would all involve the story starting out “One year at Lollapalooza, I was really drunk.”

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO

Big cheers to Trent Reznor for picking up the Academy Award for best score for his work on the Social Network. Well deserved I think another feather in the cap of  an already nice career. Gotta admit, a little weird seeing him in a tux though!

And  interesting tid bit that I didn’t know til last night. Also up for the same award was Hans Zimmer for Inception which one Johnny Marr also contributed too.

But in the end it was Trent’s night and  can argue with this hauntingly beautiful studio take of the track Something I can Never Have

PRETTY HATE MACHINE: 2010 REMASTER

Posted in INDUSTRIAL, NINE INCH NAILS on October 26, 2010 by matthewrubbish

Nine Inch Nails head honcho Trent Reznor recently announced a reissue of the bands debut and seminal LP Pretty Hate Machine due out early November.

The landmark album from 1989 put the band on the map and bought industrial music to the masses will be available on CD, vinyl and digital format as well as remastered for what Trent explains as “an improved sonic experience.” The two CD set will also feature a reworking of the original artwork (shown)

as far as I know a track listing has yet to be released so so I’m quite excited as to what the second disc will contain but stay tuned and I will be sure to feature a few tracks on Warning Radio. Until then dig this!
