WARNING HALLOWEEN HeaderWell even thought Warning Radio has been more or less DEAD for just about a year I couldn’t resist getting in on the act again this year and creating another Halloween mix. Mostly because last year I had so many songs that I did not include on the first Halloween Special but in reality I really just wanted an excuse to use a the sound clip “I Got A Rock” from the Peanuts The Great Pumpkin. WARNING RADIO HALLOWEEN SPECIAL PODCAST

Posted in BOOK OF LOVE, GOTH, HALLOWEEN, INDUSTRIAL, MINISTRY, NEW ORDER/JOY DIVISION, PODCASTS, SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES, THE CURE on October 31, 2013 by matthewrubbish

WARNING HALLOWEEN HeaderI’ve been kicking around the idea of doing a halloween podcast for a few years. Halloween mixes are not uncommon and this year I could not resist getting in on the act. I mean it’s kind of a no brainer. With bands like Bauhaus, Joy Division and countless other darkwave and electro/industrial bands to choose from it was begging to be done. I didn’t stray too far from some of the alternative classics that come to mind when talking about a Halloween mix but I threw in just enough other tunes in to keep it fresh. Enjoy the mix for a limited time and look for Warning Radio Episode 011 coming very soon.

Happy Halloween,
Matthew Rubbish

AND THE OSCAR GOES TO

Big cheers to Trent Reznor for picking up the Academy Award for best score for his work on the Social Network. Well deserved I think another feather in the cap of  an already nice career. Gotta admit, a little weird seeing him in a tux though!

And  interesting tid bit that I didn’t know til last night. Also up for the same award was Hans Zimmer for Inception which one Johnny Marr also contributed too.

But in the end it was Trent’s night and  can argue with this hauntingly beautiful studio take of the track Something I can Never Have

FIX: THE MINISTRY MOVIE

Man, just when I thought I was in the clear on my Chicago related posts and along comes FIX: The Ministry Movie. The film that describes it self as “The Movie that shoves your ass way, way backstage with the scariest band EVER!”

Not a whole hell of a lot to say here other that watch the damn trailer cause this should be a good one! Or at least interesting if nothing else. Nah, it should be good.

WAX TRAX

Posted in INDUSTRIAL, WAX TRAX on February 17, 2011 by matthewrubbish

So it occurred to me that my last two posts were about Chicago bands so I thought shit, let’s make this a trifecta and stick with the theme!

Front 242, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Revolting Cocks and more are teaming up for Wax Trax’s 33 1/3 Anniversary with the Wax Trax Retrospectacle on April 15th & 16th at Metro in Chicago. Check out www.waxtraxchicago.com for all the artists, ticket info and more!

And of course what Warning post would be complete with out a related youtube clip. Here’s one from one of Wax Trax best (as well as one of my personal favorites of the genre) Front 242

WARNING RADIO RECOMMENDS

Posted in DANCE PARTY, GOTH, INDUSTRIAL on October 28, 2010 by matthewrubbish

WOW! After a few weeks of irregular posts I’m def making up for it this week. I know a lot of you are not from Baltimore but since that is where I live I know there are a bunch of you out there who check out the blog that are so chalk this one up as another one for the Bmore/DC area peeps.

A few noteworthy events coming up I’d like to mention. If you are a fan of what is played on Warning Radio chances are you will certainly dig one or possibly all of these upcoming happenings.

First is this Sunday and a very special Halloween show at Bourbon Street in Baltimore. It’s the “Select City” Tour w/ RECOIL featuring Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode. Should be a great show but with the added fact thats it’s on Halloween that lends an extra bit of excitement. The show also includes performances from Rhys Fulber (of Front Line Assembly) and local bmore dark new wave rockers The Perfects. Check the BOURBON STREET website for all the info!

Next up I.M.P and Rams Head Live welcome THE CULT to bmore on Tuesday November 2nd. They are touring (nationwaide for the non bmore peeps) behind their latest release Capsule 1. But I’m sure they are bound to play all the classics that made them the post-punk goth rock heroes we know and love! Check out the RAM’S HEAD website for tix and all the info you need!

And finally, the Battle for New Wave Supremacy continues Friday, November 12th at THE OTTOBAR with The Cure/Depeche Mode/New Order/Duran Duran dance party. This is the first time this party has happened in a while but I’ve heard this is a great time with non stop dancing all night. Doors are at 9pm but get down early for no cover and $2 drinks before 10pm. Also check out the killer poster for the event (shown at top) by the amazing bmore illustrator/designer Donald Ely. You can see a larger version of the poster HERE

PRETTY HATE MACHINE: 2010 REMASTER

Posted in INDUSTRIAL, NINE INCH NAILS on October 26, 2010 by matthewrubbish

Nine Inch Nails head honcho Trent Reznor recently announced a reissue of the bands debut and seminal LP Pretty Hate Machine due out early November.

The landmark album from 1989 put the band on the map and bought industrial music to the masses will be available on CD, vinyl and digital format as well as remastered for what Trent explains as “an improved sonic experience.” The two CD set will also feature a reworking of the original artwork (shown)

as far as I know a track listing has yet to be released so so I’m quite excited as to what the second disc will contain but stay tuned and I will be sure to feature a few tracks on Warning Radio. Until then dig this!
